JB Smoove
JB Smoove (born December 16, 1965, in Plymouth, North Carolina) is an American comedian, actor, and writer known for his quick improvisation and big-screen presence. Also credited as Jerry Brooks, Jerry Angelo Brooks, or J. B. Smoove, he has built a career that bridges stand-up, television, and film.
He broke into the industry in the mid-1990s, gaining early visibility through Def Comedy Jam. That momentum carried him into network comedy, where he became a writer and performer on NBC’s Saturday Night Live, sharpening a style that blends sharp observation with playful, character-driven humor.
Smoove is widely recognized for his starring work on HBO’s Curb Your Enthusiasm and the CBS sitcom The Millers. His film and TV credits reflect his range, from scene-stealing comedic roles in Pootie Tang (Trucky) and The Sitter (Julio) to standout appearances like Back on the Strip (Pastor Amos “Slim Sexy” Fowler).
He also lends his voice to animation, including Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Super Shredder as Bebop, and frequently appears as himself in projects such as The Super Bob Einstein Movie and JB Smoove: That’s How I Dooz It.
