Jean-François Richet
Jean-François Richet (born July 2, 1966, in Paris, France) is a French filmmaker best known for his work as a director, while also writing and producing for the screen. Raised in Meaux, east of Paris, he developed a grounded perspective that would later inform his approach to character-driven storytelling.
Richet has moved between genres and scales, building a reputation for energetic, visceral cinema and a strong sense of place. His career reflects a hands-on sensibility, balancing mainstream momentum with a distinctly French edge in tone and atmosphere.
In addition to directing, he has appeared on screen, including a role credited as Djeff in Crack 6T. He also portrayed Marshal of the Empire Michel Ney in The Emperor of Paris, highlighting his versatility as a screen artist beyond the director’s chair.
