Jeff Skoll

Jeff Skoll (born January 16, 1965, in Montreal, Québec, Canada) is a Canadian engineer, internet entrepreneur, and film producer whose career bridges Silicon Valley innovation and mission-driven storytelling. Widely recognized for his early leadership in online commerce, he later became a prominent figure in media and philanthropy.

Skoll rose to global prominence as the first president of eBay, helping shape the company during its formative growth. The success of that era provided the foundation for his next chapter—backing projects and institutions aimed at long-term social impact rather than short-term headlines.

In entertainment, he is best known for his work in production through Participant Media, a company associated with films and campaigns designed to spark public conversation and civic engagement. Beyond the screen, his philanthropic efforts are closely linked to the Skoll Foundation, which supports social entrepreneurs and initiatives tackling complex global challenges.
