Jessica Lange

Jessica Lange (also credited as Jessica Phyllis Lange) is an acclaimed American screen and stage actor, born April 20, 1949, in Cloquet, Minnesota. Over a career spanning decades, she became one of a select group to earn the “Triple Crown of Acting,” collecting two Academy Awards, multiple Emmy wins, and a Tony Award, alongside Golden Globes and other major honors.

Lange broke through with her feature debut in the 1976 remake of King Kong as Dwan, a performance that brought early awards attention. She soon proved her range with standout film work, including Frances as Frances Farmer and an Oscar-winning turn in Tootsie. Further celebrated roles followed in films such as Music Box (Ann Talbot), Cape Fear (Leigh Bowden), Big Fish (Sandra Bloom, senior), and Broken Flowers (Carmen).

On television, Lange earned major acclaim for Grey Gardens and became a defining presence on FX’s American Horror Story, adding multiple Emmys and other top prizes. She later won a Tony for Broadway’s Long Day’s Journey into Night and drew fresh awards recognition portraying Joan Crawford in Feud.

Beyond acting, Lange is also a published photographer and has supported humanitarian causes, including work with UNICEF as a Goodwill Ambassador focused on HIV/AIDS initiatives.
