Jim Cummings
Jim Cummings (also credited as James Jonah Cummings) is an American screen and voice artist born on November 3, 1952, in Youngstown, Ohio. Launching his career in the 1980s, he became one of animation’s most prolific performers, amassing hundreds of roles across film, television, and games.
A longtime favorite of major studios, Cummings has been closely associated with both Disney and Warner Bros. He is widely recognized as the continuing voice of Winnie the Pooh (since 1988) and Tigger (since 1989), and later took on iconic characters like the Tasmanian Devil and Pete. His range also spans standout series work, from Darkwing Duck to Sonic the Hedgehog, plus beloved roles on Chip ’n Dale: Rescue Rangers and CatDog.
On the big screen, Cummings’ credits include The Princess and the Frog as Ray, Shrek as the Captain of the Guards, and voice work in Disney staples such as Aladdin, Pocahontas, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, and Atlantis: The Lost Empire. He also voiced Steele in Balto and Bering/Chilkoot in Brother Bear 2, cementing a legacy built on versatility, character, and unforgettable sound.
