Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson
Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson (also credited as Jóhannes Jóhannesson; Japanese: ヨハネス・ヘイクル・ヨハネソン) is an Icelandic screen actor born on February 26, 1980, in Hafnarfjörður, Iceland. Known for a grounded intensity and commanding presence, he has moved comfortably between Icelandic cinema and major international productions.
He first drew wide attention through standout local roles, including Eiríkur in Reykjavik-Rotterdam and Tóti in Black's Game, and has continued to build a varied filmography with titles such as Mr. Bjarnfreðarson, Before We Forget, Cold, and Auga fyrir auga. His work often leans into morally complex characters, whether in crime stories, dramas, or dark comedy.
International audiences may recognize Jóhannesson from high-profile TV appearances in Game of Thrones (2016), Vikings: Valhalla (2022), and Succession (2023). On the big screen, he has featured in studio-scale films like Atomic Blonde (2017) and Alpha (2018), as well as an uncredited turn as Cain in Noah.
Blending Nordic storytelling roots with global reach, Jóhannesson remains one of Iceland’s most recognizable contemporary actors, equally at home in intimate character pieces and blockbuster worlds.
