John Goodman
John Goodman (born June 20, 1952, in Saint Louis, Missouri) is an American screen and stage actor celebrated for combining imposing presence with surprising warmth and nuance. After breaking through on television, he became a major film performer, earning top industry recognition including Emmy, Golden Globe, and SAG honors.
Goodman is especially associated with the Coen brothers, delivering standout turns in Raising Arizona, Barton Fink, The Big Lebowski (as the unforgettable Walter Sobchak), and O Brother, Where Art Thou? (as Big Dan Teague). His range spans broad comedy and character-driven drama, from The Flintstones as Fred Flintstone to later career highlights such as 10 Cloverfield Lane.
Voice work is another cornerstone of his career, including Sulley in Monsters, Inc. and “Big Daddy” La Bouff in The Princess and the Frog. On TV, he became a household name as Dan Conner on Roseanne and continued the role in the franchise’s later chapters.
