John Leguizamo

John Leguizamo (also credited as John Alberto Leguizamo, Damien Garcia, and Johnny Leggs) is a Colombian-American actor, stand-up comedian, writer, and producer, born July 22, 1960, in Bogotá, Colombia. A New York City comedy-club veteran, he built a career defined by quick-fire charisma, sharp character work, and a commitment to Latino stories on screen and stage.

After early supporting turns in films like Casualties of War and Die Hard 2, Leguizamo broke through in 1993 with Super Mario Bros. as Luigi and Carlito’s Way as Benny Blanco. He went on to standout roles including Tybalt in Romeo + Juliet and Toulouse-Lautrec in Moulin Rouge!, while also headlining projects such as A Pyromaniac’s Love Story and appearing in thrillers like Executive Decision.

Leguizamo is equally recognized for voice work, most famously as Sid in the Ice Age films. On Broadway, his one-man shows earned multiple Tony nominations, and he received a Special Tony Award in 2018. His television work includes an Emmy-winning performance for Freak, along with later Emmy-nominated roles and ongoing hosting and guest appearances.
