John Magaro

John Magaro (born February 16, 1983, in Akron, Ohio) is an American screen and stage actor known for grounded, emotionally precise performances across independent cinema and major studio projects. He is also credited internationally under variants such as 約翰・馬加羅 and جان ماگارو.

Magaro built steady momentum with film roles including Not Fade Away (as Douglas Damiano) and later appeared in acclaimed features such as The Big Short, Carol, Overlord, First Cow, Showing Up, The Mistress (as Parker), and Past Lives. His earlier credits also include The Brave One (as Ethan), My Soul to Take (as Alex), Down the Shore (as Martin), and Deep Powder (as Cota).

On television, he reached wide audiences through Netflix’s Orange Is the New Black and The Umbrella Academy, and he appeared in Amazon’s Crisis in Six Scenes. In 2016, Magaro expanded his profile on stage with his Broadway debut, playing escaped convict Earl Williams in a revival of The Front Page.
