Jonathan Tropper

Jonathan Tropper (born February 19, 1970, in New York City) is an American author, screenwriter, and producer known for shaping modern serialized drama with propulsive storytelling and character-driven grit.

He gained wide recognition as the co-creator of Banshee (2013–2016), the Cinemax series that blended crime, action, and dark humor into a cult favorite. The show helped cement Tropper’s reputation as a writer with a sharp ear for dialogue and a knack for high-stakes narrative momentum.

Tropper later created the Cinemax drama Warrior (2019–2023), expanding his television footprint with a larger canvas and a devoted global audience. In 2025, he continued that run as the creator of Apple TV+’s Your Friends & Neighbors (2025–present), bringing his sensibility to prestige streaming.

Across his work, Tropper bridges the worlds of novels and television, pairing emotional undercurrents with punchy, bingeable plotting—an approach that keeps his projects prominent among fans of contemporary drama.
