Jonathan van Tulleken
Jonathan van Tulleken is a London-born director and executive producer whose work spans prestige drama in both the UK and North America. Also credited as J. van Tulleken, he has built a reputation for shaping bold, character-driven series with cinematic scope.
He recently directed and executive produced the opening chapters of FX’s historical epic Shogun, and served as director/producer on Apple’s The Changeling. His recent slate also includes directing the second block of Apple’s Dope Thief, helmed by Ridley Scott, underscoring his steady presence on major international productions.
In British television, van Tulleken directed all of Top Boy Season 2 and contributed to the BAFTA-winning cult hit Misfits. He also directed episodes of Danny Boyle’s limited series Trust, and launched Hulu’s drama Reprisal as pilot director and executive producer—often setting the creative template for the series that followed.
Beyond television, his short films have earned BAFTA nominations and screened at festivals including Toronto, Palm Springs, and Slamdance. He is developing the miniseries Off Season with Complete Fiction and maintains an ongoing creative partnership with comedian Tim Key, crafting films for Key’s award-winning live shows.
