Jonny Coyne
Jonny Coyne (also credited as Jonathan Coyne) is an English screen actor born in 1953, known for bringing authority, menace, and dry wit to character roles across British television and Hollywood features.
His passion for performance began early in school theatre, where standout lead turns drew attention beyond the classroom and helped set his course toward acting professionally. Coyne went on to train at London’s Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA), graduating with the Hannam Clarke Award—an early marker of his craft and promise.
He made his television debut in 1990 on London’s Burning, then built steady momentum through British series and guest roles, including appearances on EastEnders, Pulling, and The Bill. International audiences also saw him in the mini-series Gulliver’s Travels opposite Ted Danson.
Coyne’s film work includes Lara Croft: Tomb Raider – The Cradle of Life (as Gus Petraki), Irina Palm, London Boulevard, and genre favorites like Would You Rather (Bevans) and The Toxic Avenger Unrated. He later expanded his U.S. profile with roles in Gangster Squad (Grimes) and The Hangover Part III (Hector), alongside a major TV showcase as Warden Edwin James on Alcatraz.
