Jordan Vogt-Roberts
Jordan Vogt-Roberts (also credited as Jordan Charles Vogt-Roberts) is an American screen director born on September 22, 1984, in Detroit, Michigan. Known for energetic storytelling and a sharp visual style, he has moved fluidly between independent film, television, and major studio franchises.
He broke out with his feature debut The Kings of Summer, which premiered at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival and earned a Grand Jury Prize nomination. The coming-of-age comedy also screened at the Cleveland International Film Festival and went on to win the Narrative Feature Audience Award at the 2013 Dallas International Film Festival, helping establish him as a filmmaker to watch.
Vogt-Roberts also made waves with the short film Successful Alcoholics, which played at Sundance and SXSW, and he co-created and directed the TV series Mash Up. In 2017, he stepped into blockbuster territory by directing Kong: Skull Island, a key entry in Legendary’s MonsterVerse.
Beyond narrative projects, he has appeared as himself in behind-the-scenes and documentary-style titles such as Creating a King: Summoning a God, Creating a King: Realizing an Icon, and Horror’s Greatest (as Self – Director, Kong: Skull Island).
