Julia Fox

Julia Fox (also known as Julia Francesca Fox) is an Italian-American screen artist whose work spans acting, filmmaking, and visual art. Born on February 2, 1990, in Milan, Italy, she spent part of her childhood with her grandfather before relocating to New York City at age six, where she grew up in Manhattan’s Yorkville neighborhood.

Before breaking into film, Fox built a creative résumé outside Hollywood: she designed clothing and co-founded a women’s knitwear label, modeled, and exhibited as a painter and photographer. She also self-published photography books and staged provocative gallery work, establishing a bold, self-directed artistic identity that later informed her on-screen presence.

Fox made her feature debut in the Safdie brothers’ Uncut Gems (2019), a breakout performance that earned major awards attention, including a Gotham Award nomination for Breakthrough Actor. She has since expanded her filmography with projects such as Upper Cut, Saboteur, The Trainer, and Presence, alongside appearances as herself in titles like Victoria's Secret: The Tour '23.

Behind the camera, Fox has written and directed short-form work, reinforcing her reputation as a multi-hyphenate creator. In her personal life, she married Peter Artemiev in 2018, and in 2021 she announced the birth of her son.
