Katherine Dow Blyton

Katherine Dow Blyton (born November 20, 1964, in Jarrow, Tyne and Wear, England) is a British screen actor known for grounded, character-led performances across film and television. Often cast as sharp, believable women at the heart of everyday drama, she has built a reputation for bringing warmth, grit, and emotional precision to supporting roles.

Her film work includes Brassed Off, where she appears as a nurse, and the crime drama The Knife That Killed Me as Mrs. Botharm. Blyton also featured in titles such as Giant (Alma Ingle), Stone, Scissors, Paper (Fran), Lost for Words (Sister), and Cardboard Boy (Amanda), demonstrating range from intimate indie storytelling to broader ensemble pieces.

On television, she is widely recognized for playing Chrissy in This Is England ’86, a role that placed her within one of Britain’s most acclaimed social realist series. She has also appeared in the long-running mystery drama Father Brown as Annie Mace, adding another memorable turn to a career defined by dependable, scene-stealing work.
