Lin-Manuel Miranda
Lin-Manuel Miranda (also known as 林-曼努尔·米兰达 and لین-منوئل میراندا) is a New York City–born songwriter, actor, singer, filmmaker, rapper, and librettist whose work has reshaped modern musical theatre and pop culture. Born on January 16, 1980, in Manhattan, he is widely celebrated for blending hip-hop, history, and heartfelt storytelling across stage and screen.
Miranda broke through on Broadway with In the Heights (2008), writing its music and lyrics and starring in the show—an achievement that helped earn major theatre and recording honors and later led to a 2021 film adaptation. He returned in 2015 with Hamilton, serving as writer and lead performer; the production became a global phenomenon, winning the Pulitzer Prize for Drama and setting new benchmarks for awards recognition and cast-album success.
Beyond the stage, Miranda is a key creative force in modern animation and film music, contributing songs to Disney hits including Moana (where he also appears in additional voice work) and Encanto. He has also appeared on screen in projects like tick, tick... BOOM! and in numerous TV specials and documentaries as himself, while earning accolades spanning Tonys, Grammys, Emmys, and Olivier Awards, plus a Kennedy Center Honor.
Miranda’s career also includes television roles, hosting and guest appearances, and activism supporting Puerto Rico, including advocacy and fundraising tied to disaster relief efforts. Whether credited for sound, performance, or authorship, he remains one of the most influential multi-hyphenates of his generation.
