Luis Guzmán
Luis Guzmán (born August 28, 1956, in Cayey, Puerto Rico) is a Puerto Rico–American screen actor celebrated for vivid, grounded character performances. Recognizable for his distinctive presence and intensity, he built a career playing memorable supporting figures—often streetwise allies, toughs, or law enforcement—before expanding into broader, more mainstream parts.
Across film and television, Guzmán has become a go-to performer for directors who value authenticity and sharp detail. He has worked repeatedly with filmmaker Steven Soderbergh, appearing in projects such as The Limey (as Eduardo Roel) and other collaborations that helped cement his reputation as a reliable scene-stealer. He has also been featured in Paul Thomas Anderson’s ensemble-driven films, including Boogie Nights (as Maurice t.t. Rodriguez).
Guzmán’s credits span popular studio hits and cult favorites, from Carlito’s Way (Pachanga) and The Count of Monte Cristo (Jacopo) to comedies like Yes Man (Jumper) and Dumb and Dumberer: When Harry Met Lloyd (Ray). Beyond live-action roles, he has lent his voice to video games, notably as Ricardo Diaz in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City and Vice City Stories.
