Mark Duplass
Mark Duplass (born December 7, 1976, in New Orleans, Louisiana) is an American screen artist best known for his naturalistic acting style and his influential work in modern independent film. Although widely recognized as a performer, Duplass has also built a parallel career as a filmmaker, writer, and producer, often blurring the line between intimate storytelling and sharp, character-driven humor.
In the mid-1990s, he and his brother Jay launched Duplass Brothers Productions, helping shape a wave of DIY indie cinema. Their collaboration led to acclaimed projects such as The Puffy Chair (where he appears as Josh) and other writer-director efforts that cemented the brothers as key voices in American independent filmmaking.
As an actor, Duplass has delivered memorable turns in titles like Hannah Takes the Stairs (Mike), Humpday (Ben), Safety Not Guaranteed (Kenneth), and Mars (Charlie Brownsville). On television, his work on The Morning Show earned him Primetime Emmy nominations, underscoring his range from low-key realism to dramatic intensity.
Beyond the screen, Duplass has explored music as well, including time as the lead singer of the indie rock band Volcano, I’m Still Excited!!. He is also known internationally under the name مارک داپلس.
