Mark Ruffalo

Mark Ruffalo (also credited as Mark Alan Ruffalo) is an American actor and producer born on November 22, 1967, in Kenosha, Wisconsin. After building experience on stage in the late 1980s and 1990s, he broke through with acclaimed dramatic work, earning early attention for his performance in Kenneth Lonergan’s play This Is Our Youth and the film You Can Count on Me.

Ruffalo’s career quickly broadened across genres, from romantic comedies like 13 Going on 30 (as Matt Flamhaff) to tense, character-driven thrillers including In the Cut (as Giovanni A. Malloy) and Zodiac (as David Toschi). He also appeared in notable films such as Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (Stan), Collateral (Det. Ray Fanning), and The Last Castle (Yates), establishing a reputation for grounded, emotionally intelligent performances.

On Broadway, Ruffalo earned a Tony nomination for the revival of Awake and Sing!. Worldwide, he became a pop-culture fixture as Bruce Banner/Hulk in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, beginning with The Avengers. His work has also been recognized with multiple Academy Award nominations, plus major wins including a SAG Award for The Normal Heart and an Emmy for his dual role in I Know This Much Is True.
