Martin Starr
Martin Starr (born July 30, 1982, in Santa Monica, California) is an American screen actor recognized for turning dry wit and low-key intensity into standout character work across film and television. Also credited as Martin Schienle and known in Chinese as 马丁·斯塔尔, he has built a career defined by smart comedy and memorable supporting turns.
Starr first drew wide attention as Bill Haverchuck on the cult comedy-drama Freaks and Geeks, later returning to ensemble comedy with Roman DeBeers on Party Down. He reached a new level of mainstream visibility as Bertram Gilfoyle on HBO’s Silicon Valley, where his deadpan delivery became a signature of the series.
On the big screen, Starr’s credits span studio hits and indie favorites, including Knocked Up, Superbad, Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story, and The Invention of Lying. He also appears in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, first seen in The Incredible Hulk as a “Computer Nerd,” and later associated with the Spider-Man films as Roger Harrington. More recent work includes There’s Something in the Barn and Milford.
