Mary Jo Catlett
Mary Jo Catlett (also credited as Mary Joe Catlett) is an American screen and stage performer born on September 2, 1938, in Denver, Colorado. With a career spanning film, television, and theatre, she’s known for bringing warmth, wit, and sharp character detail to every role.
On television, Catlett became a familiar face as Pearl Gallagher, the housekeeper on the hit sitcom Diff'rent Strokes. The part showcased her gift for grounded comedy and made her a recognizable presence for audiences who grew up on classic American TV.
For a new generation, Catlett is best known as the voice of Mrs. Puff on SpongeBob SquarePants, a role she has performed since the series began. Her distinctive delivery helped turn the anxious boating-school instructor into one of the show’s most beloved supporting characters, including appearances such as SpongeBob SquarePants: Spongebob's Last Stand and Saving Bikini Bottom: The Sandy Cheeks Movie.
