Mary Wiseman

Mary Wiseman (also known as 瑪麗·懷斯曼) is an American screen and stage actor born on July 30, 1985, in Milford, Pennsylvania. Raised between Milford and Gaithersburg, Maryland, she discovered performance early through the DC Shakespeare Theatre’s high school outreach program, then earned a BFA in Theatre Arts from Boston University.

Building a strong theatrical foundation, Wiseman trained at Juilliard’s Drama Division from 2011 to 2015, studying alongside future collaborators including Star Trek: Discovery castmate Mary Chieffo. Her stage work has included appearances in new and contemporary plays such as Nitzan Halperin’s Sow and Weep, Ariel Carson’s I Wanted it to Have a How & I Wanted it to Have a Verb, and Clybourne Park, and she has also participated in productions and workshops at notable New York play development venues.

On screen, Wiseman is widely recognized for playing Sylvia Tilly on Star Trek: Discovery, a role that introduced her to global audiences. Her credits also include Marriage Story, Room 104, Longmire, and projects such as Carole & Grey and Type 1.

In her personal life, Wiseman began dating actor Noah Averbach-Katz in 2013, and the two married on February 16, 2019.
