Matthew Rhys

Matthew Rhys (born November 8, 1974, in Cardiff, Wales) is a Welsh screen actor who has built a career spanning British cinema and major U.S. television. Also credited as Matthew Rhys Evans, he’s recognized for bringing intelligence and emotional restraint to both period stories and contemporary drama.

Rhys became widely known to American audiences for his role as Kevin Walker on ABC’s family series Brothers & Sisters, a performance that helped cement his presence in Hollywood. He also portrayed poet Dylan Thomas in The Edge of Love, showcasing his ability to inhabit real-life figures with nuance and specificity.

Across film and TV, Rhys has taken on an eclectic mix of characters, from Edward Malone in The Lost World to James Strang in The Abduction Club. His credits include Love and Other Disasters, the war-horror Deathwatch (as Cpl. Doc Fairweather), and the thriller Sorted.

More recently, he appeared as Andrew Thornton in Cocaine Bear and lent his voice to Seal Team as Grimes, continuing a steady run of memorable supporting and leading turns.
