Michael Biehn
Michael Biehn (born July 31, 1956, in Anniston, Alabama) is an American actor celebrated for shaping the modern action and science-fiction protagonist. Emerging as a defining presence in 1980s and 1990s genre cinema, he became known for playing capable, battle-worn characters with a grounded emotional realism.
Biehn is most closely linked to filmmaker James Cameron, delivering several era-defining performances: Kyle Reese in The Terminator, Corporal Hicks in Aliens, and Lieutenant Hiram Coffey in The Abyss. These roles helped set a template for the restrained, professional action hero—tough under pressure, but never larger than life.
Outside those landmark collaborations, he built a strong run of cult and mainstream credits, including The Seventh Sign, Mojave Moon, and the mountaineering drama K2. He also returned to the Terminator mythos via Terminator: Hunter Killer (voice/archive footage), underscoring the enduring impact of his signature role.
In the 2000s, Biehn’s cult reputation was refreshed with his turn as Sheriff Hague in Planet Terror, connecting his legacy to a new wave of exploitation-inspired filmmaking. Across decades, his filmography remains a touchstone for fans of action, sci-fi, and character-driven genre storytelling.
