Michael Chernus

Michael Chernus (Michael Louis Chernus) is an American screen and stage actor born on August 8, 1977, in Rocky River, Ohio. Known for character-driven performances, he has built a career spanning film, television, and theater, often bringing wit and emotional precision to supporting roles.

On television, Chernus became widely recognized for playing Cal Chapman in Netflix’s Orange Is the New Black (2013–2019), a part that helped introduce him to a global audience. His work reflects a steady commitment to ensemble storytelling, where small choices can make a character memorable.

In blockbuster cinema, he entered the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Phineas Mason, a.k.a. the Tinkerer, in Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017).
