Michael Dante DiMartino

Michael Dante DiMartino (also credited as Mike DiMartino, Michael D. DiMartino, and Michael DiMartino) is an American screen artist known for his work in animation as a producer, writer, and director. Born on July 18, 1974, in the United States, he has become a key creative voice in modern televised animation.

DiMartino is best recognized as the co-creator of Nickelodeon’s landmark animated series Avatar: The Last Airbender, developed alongside collaborator Bryan Konietzko. The show’s blend of character-driven storytelling, humor, and expansive worldbuilding helped it grow into a lasting pop-culture phenomenon.

He later continued that universe with The Legend of Korra, again co-creating the series with Konietzko and expanding the franchise with new themes, settings, and generations of heroes. His credits also include appearances such as Avatar Spirits (as Self), reflecting his ongoing connection to the franchise and its fan community.
