Morena Baccarin

Morena Baccarin (also credited as Morena Silva de Vaz Setta Baccarin) is a Brazilian-born American actress celebrated for her commanding presence across film and television, particularly in genre storytelling. Born on June 2, 1979, in Rio de Janeiro, she became a standout face of modern sci-fi through performances that blend poise, intensity, and emotional clarity.

Raised in an artistic and media-savvy family—her mother, Vera Setta, is a Brazilian stage and TV actress, and her father, Fernando Baccarin, is an Italian journalist—Baccarin relocated to New York City at age seven when her father’s work took the family to the U.S. She studied at Public School 41 and the New York City Lab School, later attending Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School before training in Juilliard’s theater program.

Her screen career began with the fashion-world comedy Perfume (2001) as Monica, followed by a steady rise that includes memorable credits such as Serenity as Inara Serra and Stargate: The Ark of Truth as Adria. Additional work spans titles like Death in Love, Sands of Oblivion, Stolen, and Last Looks, underscoring her versatility across drama, action, and thriller.
