Nikolaj Lie Kaas

Nikolaj Lie Kaas (also credited as نیکلای لی کاس) is a leading Danish screen actor, born on May 22, 1973, in Rødovre, Denmark. Emerging as a major talent in the 1990s, he has remained a consistent presence in Scandinavian cinema, known for performances that balance intensity, wit, and emotional precision.

He gained international attention through daring and character-driven films such as The Idiots (as Jeppe) and Open Hearts (as Joachim). Kaas became closely associated with modern Danish film’s bold storytelling, delivering memorable turns in dark comedies and dramas including Flickering Lights (Stefan), The Green Butchers (Bjarne / Eigil), Adam's Apples (Holger), and Brothers (Jannik).

His filmography also includes Old Men in New Cars: In China They Eat Dogs II (Martin) and Davids bog (Jacob), underscoring his range across genres and ensembles. Off screen, he comes from an artistic family as the son of actor Preben Kaas and actor-writer Anne Mari Lie, and he is a father of two.
