Oren Peli
Oren Peli (born January 21, 1970, in Ramat Gan, Israel) is an Israeli screen artist and filmmaker best known for reshaping modern horror with Paranormal Activity (2007). Working across production and direction, Peli became synonymous with the tense, minimalist approach that helped popularize found-footage storytelling for a new generation.
Peli is also the founder of Solana Films, reflecting his hands-on role in developing and shepherding projects from concept to screen. His breakthrough success positioned him as a key voice in contemporary genre cinema, frequently cited in discussions about low-budget innovation and audience-driven scares.
Beyond his work behind the camera, Peli has appeared as himself in numerous film and TV programs exploring horror and filmmaking culture, including Unknown Dimension: The Story of Paranormal Activity, The Found Footage Phenomenon, Eli Roth's History of Horror, and Face Off. These appearances underline his lasting influence on how horror is made, marketed, and remembered.
