Owen Wilson
Owen Wilson (also credited as Owen Cunningham Wilson and Owen C. Wilson) is an American actor born on November 18, 1968, in Dallas, Texas. Known for his laid-back charm and offbeat comedic timing, Wilson has built a career that moves easily between indie favorites, studio comedies, and family blockbusters.
A defining thread in his filmography is his long-running collaboration with director Wes Anderson. Beyond acting, Wilson co-wrote key early Anderson films, including Bottle Rocket and Rushmore, and earned major awards attention for co-writing The Royal Tenenbaums. He later returned to Anderson’s world in projects such as The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou, where he played Ned Plimpton.
Wilson also became a staple of mainstream comedy and crowd-pleasing hits, appearing in films like Meet the Parents, Meet the Fockers, and You, Me and Dupree. He brought blockbuster energy to Armageddon as Oscar, while continuing to take on distinctive ensemble roles across genres.
For younger audiences, his voice work is especially iconic: Wilson voices Lightning McQueen in Pixar’s Cars franchise and appears in animation like Fantastic Mr. Fox as Coach Skip. In recent years, he has also expanded into high-profile television with Loki.
