Patrick Gilmore

Patrick Gilmore (born June 1, 1976, in Edmonton, Alberta) is a Canadian screen actor recognized for steady, character-driven work across film and television. He is best known to sci-fi audiences as Dale Volker on Stargate Universe, where his grounded performance helped turn the role from a minor presence into a more fully developed part of the series.

Gilmore’s genre credentials extend well beyond the Stargate franchise, with appearances in science-fiction staples such as Battlestar Galactica and Eureka, plus a notable turn as Trennan in Riese. He also holds the distinction of being among the earliest actors to show up across all three Stargate TV series—an uncommon milestone that underscores his long-running connection to the franchise.

Outside spacefaring dramas, Gilmore has built a varied résumé that includes film and TV credits like The Cabin in the Woods, 16 Wishes, Recoil, Marilyn, Shred, Final Days of Planet Earth, and The More Love Grows. He has also portrayed entrepreneur Tom Drexler on AMC’s The Killing.

Raised in a family with strong public and professional roots, Gilmore is the son of hockey player Tom Gilmore and the brother of Scott Gilmore. He is a University of Alberta graduate with a degree in English Literature.
