Paul Rudd
Paul Rudd (also credited as Paul Stephen Rudd) is an American screen actor born on April 6, 1969, in Passaic, New Jersey. After studying theatre at the University of Kansas and training at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, he began working professionally in the early 1990s and steadily built a reputation for smart, understated comedy and grounded dramatic turns.
Rudd broke through in 1990s cinema with roles that showcased his range, including Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers (as Tommy Doyle) and Romeo + Juliet (as Dave Paris). He later became a staple of modern comedy with standout performances in Wet Hot American Summer (as Andy), Knocked Up (as Pete), and The Cider House Rules (as Lt. Wally Worthington), while also popping up in memorable cameos such as Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story (uncredited as John Lennon).
On television, he gained a wide audience as Mike Hannigan on Friends and drew acclaim for playing dual roles in Living with Yourself, earning major award nominations. His profile expanded further through repeated Saturday Night Live hosting appearances and later work in series like The Shrink Next Door and Only Murders in the Building.
In recent years, Rudd became globally recognized as Scott Lang / Ant-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, a run spanning multiple films from 2015 through 2023. He has also been honored with industry recognition, landed on Forbes’ Celebrity 100, and was named People’s “Sexiest Man Alive” in 2021.
