Peter Berg

Peter Berg (also credited as Peter W. Berg and known as Pete Berg) is an American director, actor, writer, and producer born on March 11, 1964, in New York City. While he has worked across film and television, Berg is most closely associated with directing muscular, character-driven stories that balance spectacle with grounded emotion.

He gained major recognition behind the camera with films including Friday Night Lights, The Rundown, The Kingdom, Hancock, and Battleship. Berg also helped shape modern TV drama by developing the Friday Night Lights television series, expanding the world of the film he directed into a critically admired, long-running show.

In recent years, Berg has focused on adapting real-life events, spotlighting everyday people thrust into extreme circumstances in films such as Lone Survivor, Deepwater Horizon, and Patriots Day. As an actor, he is widely remembered for playing Dr. Billy Kronk on the 1990s CBS series Chicago Hope, alongside big-screen roles in titles like Collateral and Cop Land.
