Peter Claffey

Peter Claffey (born July 28, 1996) is an Irish screen actor from Portumna, County Galway, whose path to film and television began in elite sport. Before stepping in front of the camera, Claffey was a rugby union talent within the Connacht system, building a reputation as a serious prospect.

In 2019, he made a decisive career pivot, leaving professional rugby to train and work as an actor. That transition has since shaped a fast-rising profile, marked by grounded performances and a physical presence that translates naturally to character-driven drama and genre storytelling.

Claffey’s most high-profile role to date is Ser Duncan “Dunk” the Tall in HBO’s fantasy series A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms (2026), a part that positions him at the center of one of television’s most anticipated expansions of a major fantasy world. His growing filmography also includes appearances in Small Things Like These, Wreck, Vikings: Valhalla, and Bad Sisters.

With credits spanning dark comedy, historical action, and prestige drama, Peter Claffey continues to emerge as a versatile Irish actor to watch, bringing discipline from sport into every performance.
