Ralph Fiennes

Ralph Fiennes (born December 22, 1962, in Ipswich, Suffolk) is an English screen and stage artist celebrated for intense character work and classical range. Trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, he built a formidable reputation as a Shakespeare interpreter with the National Theatre and the Royal Shakespeare Company before becoming a major film presence.

Fiennes’ cinema breakthrough arrived early, from Wuthering Heights to his chilling turn as Amon Goeth in Schindler’s List, followed by the romantic gravitas of Count Almásy in The English Patient. He continued to balance prestige drama and modern thrillers, including Strange Days (as Lenny Nero), The End of the Affair, and The Constant Gardener, earning major awards attention across his career.

Global audiences also know him as Lord Voldemort in the Harry Potter films, while his voice work includes Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit. Beyond acting, he has stepped behind the camera as a director and producer, and he has supported humanitarian causes as a UNICEF UK ambassador since 1999.
