Reese Witherspoon

Reese Witherspoon (born March 22, 1976, in New Orleans, Louisiana) is an American screen artist and producer whose career spans sharp-edged indie dramas, mainstream comedies, and prestige television. Also known as Laura Jeanne Reese Witherspoon, she has earned major honors including an Academy Award, a Primetime Emmy Award, and multiple Golden Globes, while repeatedly being recognized by outlets like Time and Forbes for her cultural influence and business impact.

Witherspoon began acting as a teenager and quickly emerged as a standout in the late 1990s, including roles in Fear and Pleasantville, plus scene-stealing turns in Cruel Intentions and American Psycho. She became a global star as Elle Woods in Legally Blonde 2: Red, White & Blonde, then delivered one of her most celebrated performances as June Carter in Walk the Line, winning the Oscar for Best Actress.

After a quieter period, Witherspoon reshaped her trajectory by producing and starring in projects driven by women’s stories, later expanding into acclaimed series and literary adaptations through Hello Sunshine. Her producing slate has included high-profile film and TV titles, reinforcing her reputation as both a leading performer and a savvy creative force.

Beyond the screen, she runs Reese’s Book Club and the lifestyle brand Draper James, and she supports children’s and women’s advocacy, including work with the Children’s Defense Fund and longtime philanthropic partnerships.
