Richard Madden
Richard Madden (born June 18, 1986, in Elderslie, Renfrewshire, Scotland) is a Scottish screen actor known for combining classical training with modern star power. He landed his first part at 11 and made his on-screen debut in 2000, later developing his craft on stage while studying at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.
Early theatre highlights included touring with Shakespeare’s Globe as Romeo in Romeo and Juliet, a role he later revisited in London’s West End. Madden’s international breakthrough came as Robb Stark on Game of Thrones (2011–2013), a performance that established him as a compelling leading man.
He expanded into film and prestige television with roles such as Prince Kit in Cinderella and Cosimo de’ Medici in Medici. In 2018, his turn as a police officer in the thriller series Bodyguard earned major acclaim, including a Golden Globe, and he was later recognized by Time among the world’s most influential people.
Madden has since moved between blockbusters and character-driven projects, starring as Ikaris in Marvel’s Eternals (and appearing as himself in Marvel Studios Assembled), alongside credits like Bastille Day, Rocketman, 1917, Lady Chatterley’s Lover, and Killer Heat.
