Robert Tinnell
Robert Tinnell (also credited as Bob Tinnell) is an American director, writer, producer, and graphic novelist born on April 27, 1961, in Fairmont, West Virginia. Raised in north-central West Virginia, he gravitated early toward classic genre cinema—especially horror—and that lifelong enthusiasm became the engine of a career built on imaginative storytelling across film and print.
As a filmmaker, Tinnell is best associated with projects that mix fantasy and fright with sincere character emotion. He directed Kids of the Round Table (1995), a youth-centered spin on Arthurian legend, and followed with Frankenstein and Me (1996), a loving salute to vintage horror that echoes the look and spirit of the movies that shaped him. His screen work also extends to music videos, reflecting a hands-on versatility behind the camera.
Beyond directing, Tinnell has made a notable mark in comics and graphic novels, where his stories often braid horror, folklore, history, and family life. That cross-medium approach has helped him build a reputation as a creator who can move fluidly between cinematic homage and personal, grounded themes.
On screen, he has also appeared in genre-related credits such as Star Slammer and the documentary series Monster Madness (as himself/voice), underscoring his ongoing connection to horror culture and its community.
