Robert Walak

Robert Walak is a film executive and production leader best known as the President of Focus Features, the specialty label recognized for a prestigious catalogue of acclaimed films and a continued focus on acquiring and producing distinctive cinema for audiences worldwide.

Before taking the helm at Focus Features, Walak was co-managing Director at Universal Pictures International Productions, guiding internationally oriented productions and acquisitions while expanding local-language and regionally driven content. His work there reflected a long-standing emphasis on building films with global reach from the ground up.

Walak previously held senior roles at The Weinstein Company, serving as Managing Director and President of Production and Acquisitions, and earlier as Senior Vice President of Production and Acquisitions at Alliance Films/Momentum Pictures. Across these posts, he became known for shaping slates, identifying market-ready stories, and steering projects from development through acquisition strategy.

Earlier in his career, he worked in business development at Endemol and entered the screen industry as a producer at MTV Europe. Walak is a graduate of the University of Amsterdam.
