Rodrigo Santoro

Rodrigo Santoro (born August 22, 1975, in Petrópolis, Rio de Janeiro) is a Brazilian screen actor and voice performer whose career bridges major Brazilian hits and high-profile international productions. Also credited as Rodrigo Junqueira Reis Santoro and Rodrigo Junqueira dos Reis Santoro, he is known for bringing intensity and charisma to roles across drama, action, and romance.

He gained wide attention in Brazil with films such as Brainstorm and the acclaimed prison drama Carandiru, where he played Lady Di. Santoro soon expanded onto the global stage, appearing in Love Actually as Karl and transforming into the imposing Xerxes in Zack Snyder’s 300.

His international résumé also includes Steven Soderbergh’s two-part epic Che as Raúl Castro, the dark comedy I Love You Phillip Morris as Jimmy, and features like Lion’s Den. On television, he reached a broad audience as Paulo on Lost, further cementing his cross-market appeal.
