Roger S.H. Schulman
Roger S.H. Schulman is an American screenwriter best known for his work in animation and family entertainment. He co-wrote the Oscar-nominated hit Shrek, earning a BAFTA for Best Screenplay and helping shape one of the most influential animated comedies of its era.
Before and after Shrek, Schulman built a strong résumé in animated features, including co-writing Balto for executive producer Steven Spielberg and scripting Disney’s direct-to-video sequels Mulan II and The Jungle Book II. He also developed a feature screenplay based on a real-life story of an unlikely friendship between a tortoise and a baby hippo in the aftermath of the 2004 tsunami.
Schulman’s career extends deeply into television as a writer and producer. He co-created and executive produced Disney Channel’s JONAS, which brought him an Emmy nomination, and served as executive producer on Phil of the Future. His credits also include developing and executive producing MTV’s 2Gether, executive producing Living Single (NAACP Image Award), and writing for series such as Parker Lewis Can’t Lose and ALF.
He has also contributed to multiple pilots, including co-writing the original pilot for The Wayans Brothers, underscoring his versatility across film and TV storytelling.
