Ron Burkle
Ron Burkle (also credited as Ronald Burkle or Ronald Wayne Burkle) is an American business figure and screen-industry financier, known in film and TV circles for production. Born on November 12, 1952, in Pomona, California, he has built a profile that bridges Wall Street strategy with entertainment investment.
Burkle is best known as the co-founder and managing partner of The Yucaipa Companies, LLC, a private investment firm focused on U.S. businesses across distribution and logistics, food and retail, consumer brands, hospitality, entertainment, sports, and light industrial sectors. Through Yucaipa, he became associated with major supermarket consolidation efforts, with deals and holdings tied to well-known grocery names.
Over time, Yucaipa’s portfolio included stakes in dozens of companies, including periods of involvement with chains such as A&P and Whole Foods Market. In March 2026, his wealth was estimated at about US$3.9 billion, placing him among the world’s wealthiest individuals.
Outside business, Burkle is also recognized for political activism and fundraising aligned with the Democratic Party, adding a public-policy dimension to his high-profile career.
