Ronald Bass

Ronald Bass (also credited as Ron Bass and Ronald Jay Bass) is an American screenwriter and producer born on March 26, 1942, in Los Angeles, California. Best known for writing, Bass has helped shape modern Hollywood storytelling with scripts that balance character-driven emotion and sharp, audience-friendly pacing.

His filmography includes the acclaimed drama Rain Man (1988), the beloved romantic comedy My Best Friend’s Wedding (1997), and the sleek thriller Entrapment (1999). Across genres, Bass is recognized for crafting memorable relationships, high-concept setups, and dialogue that keeps performances front and center.

He is also associated with When a Man Loves a Woman, where he is credited as AA Man #1. Off screen, Bass married Christine Ann Thomas on June 3, 1978, and the couple have two children. He was previously married to Gail V. Weinstein.
