Russell Brand

Russell Brand (also credited as Russell Edward Brand) is an English screen artist born on June 4, 1975, in Grays, Essex. Rising from stand-up comedy into mainstream entertainment, he became widely recognized in the UK through high-profile presenting work, including the Big Brother spin-off Big Brother’s Big Mouth, alongside a popular run in radio.

Brand’s career has often blended performance with headline-making public attention. He has been a frequent subject of British media debate, including the widely reported 2008 prank-call incident that resulted in his departure from the BBC—an episode that cemented his reputation as both a provocative talent and a polarizing figure.

On screen, Brand is known for scene-stealing comic roles and charismatic supporting turns. Notable credits include St Trinian’s as Flash Harry, Bedtime Stories as Mickey, and his breakout Hollywood persona Aldous Snow in Forgetting Sarah Marshall and Get Him to the Greek. He also reached new audiences as the voice of Dr. Nefario in Despicable Me.

Beyond acting, Brand has worked as a writer, presenter, and activist, expanding his profile through books, commentary, and filmed appearances as himself, including Russell Brand in New York City and other self-referential projects.
