Ryan Kwanten

Ryan Kwanten (also credited as Ryan Christian Kwanten) is an Australian screen actor and producer born on November 28, 1976, in Sydney, New South Wales. Known for his energetic presence and genre versatility, he has built a career spanning Australian television, American series, and feature films.

He first became widely recognized in Australia for his long-running role as Vinnie Patterson on the soap Home and Away (1997–2002). After leaving the series, Kwanten transitioned to U.S. television, joining the teen drama Summerland as Jay Robertson, a step that helped broaden his international profile.

Kwanten’s global breakthrough arrived with HBO’s True Blood (2008–2014), where he played Jason Stackhouse. He later combined acting with producing on the crime drama The Oath (2018–2019), starring as Steve Hammond. His recent TV work includes Them (2021) as George Bell and Kindred (2022) as Thomas Weylin, adapting Octavia E. Butler’s acclaimed novel.

On film, he’s appeared in titles such as Dead Silence, Flicka, Red Hill, Griff the Invisible, and voiced Kludd in Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole, alongside roles in Reach Me and Section 8.
