Samuel L. Jackson (Samuel Leroy Jackson), born December 21, 1948, in Washington, D.C., is an American actor and producer whose instantly recognizable presence has shaped modern film across decades. With a career spanning prestige drama, action blockbusters, and pop-culture franchises, his films have collectively earned tens of billions worldwide, placing him among cinema’s top box-office performers.

Jackson’s craft was forged on stage, with early professional work at New York’s Public Theater and acclaimed runs in plays including A Soldier’s Play and August Wilson’s The Piano Lesson.
