Sarah Chalke

Sarah Chalke (born August 27, 1976, in Ottawa, Ontario) is a Canadian screen actress whose career spans sharp-edged sitcoms, heartfelt dramas, and distinctive voice work. Known for a bright, naturalistic style, she became a familiar presence on major North American television and has continued to evolve across streaming-era series and feature films.

Chalke is widely recognized for playing Dr. Elliot Reid on Scrubs and for her memorable run as “Second Becky” on Roseanne. She later expanded her profile with roles in series such as Firefly Lane, How I Met Your Mother, Friends from College, Speechless, and Backstrom, balancing comedy timing with grounded emotional beats.

Her film and TV-movie credits include Chaos Theory (as Paula Crowe), Why I Wore Lipstick to My Mastectomy, Mama's Boy, Kill Me Later, Y2K, and the satire Prop 8: The Musical. In animation, she has voiced characters in projects like Prep & Landing and has become especially notable for voice roles in adult and family series alike.

Off-screen, Chalke was long engaged to Canadian lawyer Jamie Afifi; the pair later separated. They share two children, and she has spoken publicly about her son’s early health challenges, reflecting a life shaped by both Hollywood longevity and personal resilience.
