Shea Whigham
Shea Whigham (born January 5, 1969, in Tallahassee, Florida) is an American screen actor known for bringing lived-in intensity to both prestige television and character-driven films. With a career built on grounded, often morally complicated roles, he has become a familiar face across crime dramas, thrillers, and acclaimed studio features.
Whigham is widely recognized for his work on HBO’s Boardwalk Empire as Elias “Eli” Thompson, a performance that helped cement his reputation for layered supporting turns. He later appeared in major anthology hits, including the first season of True Detective and the third season of Fargo, continuing a run of standout TV roles.
On the film side, his credits range from indie favorites to blockbuster franchises. Notable performances include Tigerland (Pvt. Wilson), Wristcutters: A Love Story (Eugene), Splinter (Dennis Farell), Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans (Justin), and Pride and Glory (Kenny Dugan), alongside work in high-profile titles such as The Wolf of Wall Street, Joker, and Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One.
