Shuji Utsumi

Shuji Utsumi (内海 州史), born April 19, 1961, in Fukuoka, Japan, is a screen and game production leader closely associated with Sega’s modern global strategy. Known for work in production and transmedia, he has helped shape how the company connects its game brands with broader entertainment audiences.

In January 2024, Utsumi was elevated to President and COO of Sega Corporation, while also serving as CEO of Sega America and Sega Europe. The promotion positioned him at the center of Sega’s worldwide operations, overseeing both the business direction and the creative pipeline that supports major releases and cross-media initiatives.

Prior to that step up, he held several top executive posts, including co-COO, President of Consumer Games and Transmedia, and Representative Director at Sega. Across these roles, Utsumi has been recognized for guiding large-scale production ecosystems and aligning development, publishing, and brand expansion under a unified vision.
