Spike Jonze
Spike Jonze (born October 22, 1969, in Rockville, Maryland) is the professional name of Adam Spiegel, an American director whose career moves fluidly between cinema, television, commercials, and music videos. Known internationally under names including 스파이크 존즈 and اسپایک جونز, he’s built a reputation for inventive storytelling and a playful, human touch.
Jonze became a defining voice in modern American film through his creative partnership with writer Charlie Kaufman, directing the acclaimed mind-bending features Being John Malkovich (1999) and Adaptation. (2002). He later brought a beloved children’s book to the screen with Where the Wild Things Are (2009), balancing spectacle with emotional intimacy.
Beyond feature films, Jonze helped shape pop culture as a co-creator and executive producer of MTV’s Jackass, and he has remained active as a producer and occasional performer. His varied credits range from Three Kings (as Conrad Vig) to voice work in Sing 2 (uncredited).
He also co-founded the Directors Label project with Chris Cunningham and Michel Gondry, and serves as creative director of VBS.tv. Outside the screen, Jonze is a part owner of Girl Skateboards alongside riders Rick Howard and Mike Carroll.
